Cosplay at the Denton Comic Art Expo

The North Texas Ghostbusters will administer the 2024 DCAE cosplay contest!

You can register for the contest at the Expo on September 28th. Contestants will be judged on four criteria: Authenticity, Originality, Detail, and Presentation. There will be a gift basket for the best costume in each category and a special best-in-show cash prize for the best overall costume.

The Contest judges are listed below

Brad Bingham

Brad is currently a Member of the North Texas Ghostbusters, but before that, he started his Cosplay journey in 2013 when he was dressed as Doc Brown at the 2013 Dallas Sci-fi Expo. His Cosplay style is making Old to New again. For example, he got My first big notice when he was the Phantom of the Opera at Texas Frightmare Weekend in 2017.

Meleya Isis (Mind)

As well as being an experienced cosplayer, Meleya is one of the most exciting young visual artists in the greater Dentroplex. She is a master of 2d, sculptural, and make-up arts.

Laurie Parker

Laurie Parker is the winner of the 2023 International Beauty Industry Awards for the cosplay category, came in 3rd place in Fab over 40 in 2021 and has been doing makeup since she was a teen, where she got her start doing theatrical makeup in high school. She is a wife and Mom of 3 boys who are all members of the local North TX Ghostbusters group.

GENERAL COSPLAY RULES AND GUIDELINES:

  • DCAE does not tolerate harassment or discrimination. If you feel that you are being harassed, or see someone else being harassed, please locate a ‘yellow shirt’ volunteer or a local police department officer immediately. If you see something, say something!

  • The Denton Comic Art Expo is an ‘all ages and family-friendly ‘ event. When “acting the part,” please remember that all conduct must be appropriate given the presence of children.

  • The Denton Comic Art Expo abides by state laws for nudity and indecent exposure.

  • Depictions of hate symbols are not permitted and you will be asked to remove them. Failure to comply will result in immediate removal from the event.

  • By attending The Denton Comic Art Expo, you consent to the use of your image or likeness by media now known or hereafter devised for advertising and/or promotional purposes for any and all Square Egg Entertainment events.
